Sawyer's Choco-licious Treats

Wine for grown-ups and cookies for toddlers. Baking memories the Sawyer way.


  • 1 cup Salted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup Brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup White sugar
  • 2 Eggs, room temperature
  • 1 tsp Baking soda
  • 1 cup Warm water
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 3 cup All-purpose baking flour
  • 1 cup Chopped soft nuts (walnuts or pecans)
  • 12 oz Semisweet chocolate chips


Preheat oven to 350.

Cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Dissolve baking soda in hot water. Add to batter along with salt. Stir in flour, chocolate chips, and nuts. Drop by large spoonfuls onto ungreased pans.

Bake for about 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are nicely browned.
